Jeroen is being very polite and modest here, but his work on this has
been truly excellent. His initial SMP patch occurred in parallel with
our start on the same work, and we went in slightly different directions
on it. That has very rapidly converged to the point where I'm very happy
to have him take over as much of the SMP stuff as he is willing to do,
sit back, and occasionally point out where there are things that he may
not have seen yet.
So this is VERY good work and I want to say so publicly along with a big
THANK YOU.
My plan is to accept his patch as soon as it converges. The *only*
reason that I have been holding off is that I would prefer to commit the
change as a single patch if we can do that, and there are one or two
things that we need to talk about in order for Jeroen to be able to do
those bits right.
To be honest, I am quite amazed. Jeroen basically sat down, read the
code, and came up with a terrific first patch with exactly zero help
from us.
Where can we find three or four more like him?
