An investor doesn't care that you're building a lastingly profitable 
product, he just wants you to hit this quarter's numbers so he can bail 
out quickly with a gain. From the board on down, the game is to keep the 
stock price high in the short term. The story about the product is more 
important than the product.

Eventually though, the "Apache enterprises," whose management hasn't 
bothered to learn how to spell IPO, will win.

My uncle likes to say that the world’s biggest troubles started when the serpent said, “Try this fruit, and by the way if a bunch of people collectively calling themselves Arthur Andersen signs something it’s the same as if a person named Arthur Andersen signed it.” I don’t get the serpent and fruit part. Must be some Swiss mythology thing. He can be a bit obscure.
