Indeed, from one of Jonathan's reply:

Somehow, Gelf's emails do not contain either of these fields (which are
standard). But he uses Yahoo webmail:
X-Mailer: YahooMailClassic/5.1.18 YahooMailWebService/0.7.289.4
So it's very strange that they are missing. I cannot really believe
Yahoo does not generate these.

Many MUA use these fields for email threading, not only Mailman.
